The Short Magazine Lee-Enfield Mk III was introduced in 1907 and became the British Empire's main service rifle through both World Wars; it was renamed the Rifle No.1 Mk III in 1926. Chambered in .303 British with a 10-round detachable magazine, its fast bolt action made it famous for rapid aimed fire. Millions were built in Britain, Australia and India, which is why so many restoration projects are still out there today.
